Duke extended its NCAA-leading streak of non-conference home wins to 85 with the victory over UAB. The Blue Devils have won 28 straight games in Cameron Indoor Stadium overall and 57 of their last 59 home contests. The current home winning streak ranks fourth all-time at Duke.
The Blue Devils have won 24 straight games dating back to last season and have started 14-0 for the fifth time in school history, all coming under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. The 24 consecutive wins are the second most in school history, eight shy of the school record of 32.
With the win over UAB, Duke improved to 3-0 all-time against the Blazers. It was the first time the two schools had met in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke scored 85 points to give them 80 or more points in 12 of the 14 games this season.
The Blue Devils shot 54.3 percent (19-of-35) from the field in the first half. It is the fourth time this season they have shot 50 percent or better in the first half.
Senior guard Nolan Smith scored 33 points to become the third Blue Devil this season to score 30 or more points in a game. Kyrie Irving had 31 points against Michigan State and Kyle Singler had 30 against Oregon.
The Blue Devils recorded 11 steals in the game and have now tallied 10 or more steals in nine games on the year.
Duke went on its longest run of the season, a 16-0 spurt in the first half after UAB scored the first points of the game on a three-point field goal. Senior guard Nolan Smith scored 10 of the 16 points during the run on two layups and two three-point field goals.
Sophomore Andre Dawkins drew his third career start and has now started in three of the last six games.
Dawkins has tallied back-to-back games with at least three steals. His three steals against UAB give him seven in the last two games and 17 on the season.
He made two three-point field goals in the game to give him 10 games with two or more on the year. He is shooting .538 (35-of-65) from beyond the arc for the year.
The six rebounds marked the second time this season he has grabbed over five rebounds.
Senior Kyle Singler drew his team-leading 82nd consecutive start and has now started in 124 of his 125 career games. The 124 career starts ranks tied for ninth on Duke's all-time list with Danny Ferry.
Singler became the 11th player in school history and 43rd player in ACC history with 2,000 career points. He now ranks 11th at Duke with 2,005 points.
With his double figure scoring game, he moved into a tie for eighth on the school's career list with Trajan Langdon at 108 games with 10 or more points.
The three three-point field goals give Singler five games with three or more treys. He has made 32 three-point field goals on the year.
He had one blocked shot to become the 14th Duke player with 100 or more career blocks.
Senior Nolan Smith scored a career-high 33 points to become the third Duke player with a 30-point game this season. His previous career high was 29 points against Baylor in the 2010 NCAA Elite Eight.
He has scored at least 20 points for his fifth straight game with 20 or more and sixth in the last seven games. He has seven 20-point games this season and 24 in his career.
The 11 made field goals were a career high and third time he has made at least 10 field goals.
Smith was 9-of-10 from the free throw line in the contest. It was the fourth time this season he went to the line 10 or more times.
The seven rebounds give him five straight games with at least five rebounds and nine overall contests this year.
He had five assists in the game to mark the 10th game with five or more dimes on the season.
Smith has now tallied four games with at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists, including three straight contests.
He also had his fifth multi-steal game of the year with two steals.
