Blue Devils to Complete Road Swing at Virginia Tech on Sunday...
Coming off notching its third straight victory against a ranked opponent on Friday at 21st-ranked Florida State, the third-ranked Duke women's basketball team (16-0, 2-0 ACC) will conclude a two-game road swing at Virginia Tech (9-8, 0-3 ACC) on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 2:00 p.m., in Blacksburg, Va. The game will be played at Cassell Coliseum. Fans can catch the game live on the Blue Devil Sports Network, which will be aired live on 620 AM, with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) on the air and on www.GoDuke.com. The game will also be picked up on XM Radio channel 190.

A Look At Virginia Tech...
Virginia Tech enters Sunday with a 9-8 overall and 0-3 ACC mark. The Hokies have lost their three league games to Florida State, Miami and Wake Forest. So far on the year, Virginia Tech has been led by Shanel Harrison (13.1 points, 6.1 rebounds), Monet Tellier (9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds) and Alyssa Fenyn (8.3 points, 3.8 rebounds).
The Hokies are coached by Beth Dunkenberger, who is in her eighth year at Virginia Tech.
The Series With Virginia Tech...
Duke and Virginia Tech will meet for the 18th time in school history. The Blue Devils lead the series, 15-2, with Duke winning the past 13 games in a row.
In contests played in Blacksburg, Va., Duke owns a 6-1 record with the only loss coming in the first ever meeting between the two schools on Jan. 24, 1981 as the Hokies won 66-55.
Blue Devil Head Coach
Joanne P. McCallie will face Virginia Tech for the eighth time in her 19-year coaching career and owns a 6-1 record. She has won six straight games against VT since joining the Duke program. As the head coach at Michigan State, Coach P and the Spartans fell, 50-36, to the Hokies on Nov. 25, 2000 in the Tallahassee Democrat Seminoles Classic in Tallahassee, Fla.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
• The Blue Devils notched its fifth road victory against a ranked opponent over the last four years and the first of the season with an 87-70 win at 21st-ranked Florida State. The 87 points against a ranked opponent is the most since Duke notched 89 in the ACC Championship game against Maryland on March 8, 2009. The most in the regular season since scoring 90 versus Maryland on Feb. 13, 2006. • Duke is coming off playing its third straight game against a ranked opponent. The last time the Blue Devils played three consecutive games against ranked opponents in the regular season was in 2006-07.
• The Blue Devils have started three different freshmen (
Chelsea Gray,
Haley Peters and
Chloe Wells) on the season, three different point guards (Gray, Wells and
Shay Selby). It marks the first time since 2000-01 that three different freshmen have started at least one game in a season (Alana Beard, Iciss Tillis and Rometra Craig).
• Senior
Jasmine Thomas continues to move up the Duke career scoring list this season as she now ranks ninth with 1,414 points. She needs 24 more to move into a tie for eighth, after passing Abby Waner (1,408) and Mistie Bass (1,409) at Florida State.
• In seven road games, freshman
Chelsea Gray is averaging 11.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals. She has hit 7-of-16 treys.
• The Blue Devils have now won two games shooting under 30.0 percent from the field against top 10 ranked opponents -- Kentucky (26.1%) and Xavier (26.8%).

Freshmen Stepping Up...
Duke is getting excellent production from its freshmen so far on the season. In the last game at Florida State,
Chelsea Gray,
Tricia Liston,
Haley Peters and
Chloe Wells combined for 46 of Duke's 87 points.
Over the last two games, Peters is averaging 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds, while hitting 58.8 percent of her field goals. She hit her third career three-pointer at Florida State.
Liston is averaging 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists over the last two games. She matched a career high with three treys and 15 points at Florida State. She has hit 12-of-25 three-pointers on the season for a 48.0 percentage.
Gray returned to the starting lineup at Florida State and notched 13 points, for assists and two rebounds in 27 minutes. She is averaging 10.3 points, 2.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds over the last three games. Over the last three road games, Gray has notched double-digit scoring.
Thomas Catching Fire...
Senior
Jasmine Thomas is playing some of the best basketball of her career as she is coming off notching 20+ points in three consecutive games against ranked opponents.
In the three game stretch, Thomas is averaging 22.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.0 blocks. She is coming off notching a season-high eight assists at Florida State, while almost notching her second career triple-double along with nine rebounds and 22 points.
From Downtown...
Duke drained five three-pointers in the first half and went on to finish with eight for the game at Florida State, which is tied for the second most in a single game this season.
