DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth announced the 2010-11 schedule with eight home contests and a trip to Hawaii highlighting the 23 match schedule. The women finished ranked night at the end of last season.
The women's and men's teams will both travel to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Hill's Family Winter Trip on Jan. 8 to start the season. They will face the University of Hawai'i at 4 p.m. Eastern Time. The trip is being sponsored by former Duke men's tennis letterman Greg Hills and his family.
The Blue Devils' first match will take place two weeks later in Durham when they take on William and Mary at Ambler Stadium on Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. The following weekend the women will host the ITA National Indoors on Jan. 30-31 with Brown, Tulsa and Texas A&M joining them in the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
Duke has six home matches with four of those teams being in the top-25 at the end of last season. These matches include hosting No. 2 Florida on Feb. 13, No. 25 Virginia on April 3, No. 11 Clemson on April 9 and No. 15 Georgia Tech on April 10.
The Blue Devils face a tough road schedule with 11 matches away from home with six of those coming against ranked opponents. Duke will face off against No. 7 Northwestern on Feb. 6, No. 21 Arizona State on March 10, and travel to Tampa, Fla. to play against fifth-ranked Notre Dame on March 17.
Duke starts ACC play against Boston College on March 25 and will travel to Maryland, No. 3 UNC, No 10 Miami, and end the season against No. 14 Florida State.
