EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The New Jersey Nets have signed free agent
Brian Zoubek, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not released.
Zoubek, an undrafted rookie center out of Duke, played in all 40 contests helping the Blue Devils capture a National Championship while averaging 5.6 points and 7.7 rebounds on .638 (90-141) shooting from the field. The Haddonfield, N.J., native set a Duke single-season record with a 143 offensive rebounds a season ago.
For his career, Zoubek averaged 4.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 133 games, which included starts in 37 contests. He was also a three-time ACC All-Academic team member.
Zoubek will begin summer league play with the Nets July 5-9 at the AirTran Airways Pro Summer League in Orlando, Florida. Prior to the start of the games, the Nets will hold a four-day training camp at the PNY Center in East Rutherford, N.J. from Thursday, July 1 thru Sunday, July 4.
Lance Thomas, a 2010 ACC All-Defensive Team selection by the coaches and media, is also listed on the Nets summer league roster. Thomas started 39 games last season for Duke, averaging 4.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
