During the Blue Devils' run to the tournament semifinals last weekend, Plotkin went 3-0 at the No. 3 position. Her weekend included a 6-1, 6-4 win over 18th-ranked Danielle Lao of Southern California in Saturday's quarterfinal round. She also battled to a three-set victory over North Carolina's Jelena Durisic in Duke's semifinal loss.
The San Francisco, Calif. native was chosen for the annual award by the 16 participating coaches and the ITA National Ranking Committee. Maria Mosolova of Northwestern earned the distinction of Most Outstanding Player after leading the Wildcats to their second straight tournament title.
Plotkin now owns a perfect 8-0 ledger in dual matches this year after missing the last two seasons with injuries. She and junior Reka Zsilinszka have posted a 6-1 mark at No. 2 doubles so far this spring. Plotkin holds an overall career record of 24-10 in singles dual match play.
Duke returns to action this weekend in two home matches. The Blue Devils host Michigan Saturday at 12 p.m. and Furman Sunday at 12 p.m.
