DURHAM, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) released the 2010 All-ACC women's soccer team on Tuesday with three Blue Devils receiving honors. Freshmen
Mollie Pathman and
Laura Weinberg were both named to the All-ACC Second Team, while freshman
Kaitlyn Kerr along with Pathman and Weinberg were selected to the All-ACC Freshman squad by a vote of the leagues head coaches.
The three selections to the freshman team is the most by a Blue Devil squad since the ACC began recognizing an All-ACC Freshman squad in 2000.
After seeing limited action early in the season, Kerr has started five out of the last six matches in the midfield heading into the tournament. A product of Bensalem, Pa., Kerr has totaled three goals, five assists and 11 points on the season. She notched four of her five assists against ranked opponents.
Pathman, a native of Durham, N.C., has stepped in as a rookie and started 18-of-19 matches with the lone contest she did not start being senior night. The 5-3 midfielder/forward has registered eight goals, five assists and a team-best 21 points. She has notched five of her eight goals over the last six matches. Pathman's three multi-goal performances on the season is a team best.
After notching 117 goals in high school, Weinberg has not missed a beat in college as she leads Duke with nine goals. Weinberg, who is from Boca Raton, Fla., posted five tallies against ACC opponents, including her first multi-goal performance of her career versus sixth-ranked Boston College. On the year, she has collected 20 points, which ranks second on the squad. Weinberg is one goal shy of matching the Duke freshman record for goals in a season.
Duke (10-6-3), which is seeded seventh, will next take on second-seeded and third-ranked Maryland (15-2-1) on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 5:00 p.m., in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. The match will be played at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
