Duke is making its second appearance in the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic and now has a 5-1 record in the in-season tournament.
Tuesday marked the first ever meeting between Duke and Miami (Ohio) with the Blue Devils winning 79-45.
Duke extended its NCAA-leading streak of non-conference home wins to 79 with the victory over Miami (Ohio). The Blue Devils have won 21 straight games in Cameron Indoor Stadium overall and 50 of its last 52 home contests.
In the month of November, Duke has won 24 consecutive games dating back to a loss to Marquette in the 2006 CBE Classic.
Dating back to last season, the Blue Devils have now won 12 straight games.
The sellout in the season opener extended Duke's sellout streak to 307 consecutive games since Nov. 16, 1990.
The Blue Devils' defense held Miami (Ohio) to under 50 points, including 17 in the first half. Last season Duke held six opponents to under 50 points.
Duke held the RedHawks to 17 points in the first half. The last time an opponent had under 20 points in the first half against the Blue Devils was Jan. 3, 2010 when Clemson scored just 12 first half points in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Coastal Carolina (19) and Gonzaga (17) also managed less than 20 points last year against the Blue Devils.
Four players scored in double figures for Duke and seven different players had at least seven points. The Blue Devils have had at least four players with 10 or more points in each of the first two games.
After they were outrebounded 31-29 in the season opener, Duke controlled the glass with a 48-27 rebounding advantage over the RedHawks. Four different Duke players had at least five rebounds, including 14 from Mason Plumlee.
Duke's bench had a 14-0 scoring advantage in the first half, led by Seth Curry and Andre Dawkins with seven points apiece. The Blue Devils finished the game with a 31-18 advantage in bench points.
The Blue Devils committed only nine turnovers in the game while dishing out 15 assists. In two games, Duke has 41 assists and 23 turnovers.
For the second straight game, the Blue Devils recorded 10 steals. Last season Duke only had five games with 10 or more steals. The last time the Blue Devils had more steals than turnovers was against Tulsa last season when they had seven steals and five turnovers.
Sophomore transfer Seth Curry has scored in double figures in each of his first two games with the Blue Devils after posting a team-high 17 points against Miami (Ohio).
Curry made 3-of-4 from three-point range and has three treys in each of the first two games.
He has started his Duke career a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line.
Freshman Kyrie Irving scored 13 points, despite playing in just 19 minutes, and now has reached double figures in scoring in each of his first two collegiate games.
Irving also grabbed five rebounds in the game and dished out two assists.
Sophomore Ryan Kelly earned his first collegiate start. He played in 35 games off the bench last season and was the first player off the bench in the season opener this year.
Kelly contributed seven points, three rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal in his 16 minutes.
Sophomore Mason Plumlee recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The 14 rebounds were a career-high, breaking his previous best of nine rebounds at North Carolina last season. Mason matched his career high for rebounds in the first half with nine.
It is the fourth time in his career he has scored 10 or more points.
Senior Kyle Singler drew his 70th consecutive start and has now started in 112 of his 113 career games.
Singler scored less than 10 points for just the 17th time in his 113 career games. His last game with fewer than 10 points was Baylor in the NCAA Elite Eight when he had five points.
Senior Nolan Smith leads the ACC with 12 straight double-figure scoring games. He has scored 10 or more points in 26 of the last 27 games for the Blue Devils.
Smith matched a career high with seven assists. He also had seven assists against Radford and Long Beach State last season.
He also had five rebounds, giving him 14 career games with five or more.
Smith has been a very good all-around player in the first two games, averaging 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
