Fahoum and Nze Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Nadine Fahoum and Ellah Nze advanced to the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships on Friday, Oct. 8. Duke's Monica Gorny and Mary Clayton advanced to the consolation doubles semifinal after winning their opening matches.
Nze and Fahoum knocked out the second-seeded pair of Alexa Guarachi and Courtney McLane from Alabama by a score of 8-5 to move on. Nze and Fahoum are slated to play their quarterfinal match against the University of Miami's Anna Bartenstein and Bianca Eickhorn on Saturday.
Reka Zsilinszka squared off against Mari Andersson from California in the second round of the singles main draw at the Riviera. Zsilinszka won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, over Andersson and advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw. Zsilinszka faced off next against Denise Muresan from Michigan in her quarterfinal match and lost by a score 6-3, 6-4.
Duke's Nze was matched up against fifth-seeded Denise Dy from Washington in her second round singles competition on Friday, and was knocked out of the singles competition by a score of 6-1, 7-6.
The Blue Devil duo of Gorny and Clayton began the main draw of the consolation doubles matches against Florida's Lauren Embree and Joanna Mather and advanced by default to the quarterfinals. Gorny and Clayton won their quarterfinal match up by a score of 9-7, over Vicky Brook and Lindsay Clark from Yale to move on to the consolation doubles semifinal.
In consolation singles action, Clayton was matched up in the first round against Sonja Molnar from Iowa and fell in straight sets 6-4, 6-4
The Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships will resume Saturday morning with doubles at 1:00 p.m. (EST).
