This game is the third time this season the Blue Devils have scored over 30 points. Duke is 2-1 in those contests, defeating Elon (41-27) and Navy (34-31) but losing at Wake Forest (48-54).
Big First Half For Renfree
Redshirt sophomore quarterback Sean Renfree accounted for two of Duke's three first half touchdowns, completed 17-of-18 pass attempts for 180 yards and had five carries for 21 yards. In the first quarter, he completed all eight of his pass attempts for 87 yards.
Renfree Completes First 16 Passes To Tie School Record
Renfree started the game a perfect 16-for-16 for 166 yards, matching a school record for consecutive completions in a game. He tied D. Bryant's record of 16 straight against N.C. State in 2000. It is the fourth time in school history a Duke quarterback has completed at least 15 straight passes.
Single Game Completion Percentage Record For Renfree
Renfree completed a school record 93.3 percent of his passes (28-of-30), breaking the previous record for a single game held by Spence Fischer, who completed 85.2 percent of his passes (23-of-27) against Navy in 1994.
300-Yard Game For Renfree
Renfree finished the game with 314 yards on 28-of-30 passing. It marked the fourth time this season he has thrown for over 300 yards. The four 300-yard contests rank tied for third on Duke's single season list with Spence Fischer (1995), Dave Brown (1991) and Ben Bennett (1983).
Sixth Player Over 2,000 Yards
Renfree went over 2,000 yards for the season with his 314 yards against Navy. He is just the sixth player in school history to throw for over 2,000 yards in his first season as a starter. He joined Anthony Dilweg (3,824 in 1988), Leo Hart (2,238 in 1968), Thaddeus Lewis (2,134 in 2006), Ben Bennett (2,050 in 1980) and Billy Ray (2,035 in 1989). Renfree now has 2,051 yards through eight games.
Renfree Scores First Two Career Rushing Touchdowns
Renfree recorded his first career rushing touchdown to put Duke in front 10-0. On fourth-and-one he leapt over the pile for the score. He then scored Duke's third touchdown of the game on a 12-yard run in the second quarter. He has been responsible for 12 touchdowns this season with 10 through the air and has 16 career total touchdowns.
Connette Posts Fourth Rushing Score
True freshman Brandon Connette's six-yard rushing touchdown gives him four on the season. The four rushing touchdowns rank fourth most on Duke's singles season rushing TD list for freshmen.
Renfree to Vernon Touchdown Pass
Sophomore wide receiver Conner Vernon caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Renfree to extend the lead to 31-7. The touchdown catch was the fourth of the season for Vernon and first since the Army game on Sept. 25. Vernon now has seven career touchdown grabs. Renfree has now thrown 11 touchdown passes on the season and has a scoring toss in six of the eight games on the year.
Vernon Reaches 100 Catches
Vernon caught two passes on the opening drive to give him 100 career receptions. He became the 14th player in school history with 100 or more catches, joining his teammate Donovan Varner who hit 100 earlier this season.
Vernon Moves Up Career Receiving List
With his 90 receiving yards, Vernon moved up four spots on Duke's career receiving yards list into 14th. He now has 1,461 career yards.
Helfet Notches Career High
Junior transfer tight end Cooper Helfet tallied career highs of seven catches for 69 yards to lead the Blue Devils in receiving. His previous best was three receptions for 19 yards against Miami.
Defense Posts First Half Shutout
The Blue Devils did not allow a point in the first half, marking the first time since the second half of the N.C. Central game last season that Duke did not allow a single point in a half. Navy managed just 67 yards of total offense on 22 plays with 41 rushing yards on 19 carries and 26 passing yards on 1-of-3 passing.
Oglesby Recovers Fumble
Senior defensive end Wesley Oglesby recovered a fumble on Navy's opening drive for his third career fumble recovery and first of the season. His first two fumble recoveries came against Georgia Tech with one in 2008 and one in 2009.
Kromah Forces Fumble
Senior linebacker Abraham Kromah stripped a ball carrier for his second career caused fumble. He also forced a fumble against Wake Forest in last year's season finale.
Blue Devils Get Two Sacks
Senior defensive end Patrick Egboh tallied 1.5 sacks for his first sacks of the season. He now has 4.0 career sacks. True freshman linebacker Kelby Brown also had 0.5 sacks to give him 1.5 career sacks.
Double Digit Tackles
Brown and Kromah each reached double figures in tackles. Brown accomplished the feat for the second time this season, finishing the game with 12 stops, 2.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. Brown had 10 tackles against Army earlier this year. Kromah's 11 tackles gives him five straight games with 10 or more tackles. He also had one tackles for loss and one caused fumble. Kromah is averaging 12.6 tackles per game over the last five contests.
Snyderwine Makes Two Field Goals
Junior kicker Will Snyderwine kicked field goals of 30 and 40 yards to extend his streak to 11 consecutive made field goals. He is now 13-of-14 (.929) on the season.
Snyderwine Has Made 46 Straight Extra Point Attempts

Of the 25 scores the Blue Devils have 15 touchdowns and 10 field goals. Nine of the 15 touchdowns have come on rushing plays.
