
Men's Tennis Opens Day 1 of ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying

Junior David Holland opened the day with a 7-6(8), 6-3 victory in the first round over Pacific's Fernando Ristown. Holland fell in the second round to Colin Hoover of Texas A&M, 6-1, 6-1.
After receiving byes in the first round, Duke's Jared Pinsky, Chris Mengel and Fred Saba each garnered straight-set victories to move into the semifinals. Pinsky outlasted Paul Chappell of TCU, 6-4, 6-4, while Mengel cruised past Iowa's Marc Bruche with a 6-1, 6-4 score. Saba grabbed a victory over Carlos Morieras from Texas at San Antonio, 6-0, 7-6 (6).
Cale Hammond dropped his second round match to David Costa of Southern Methodist, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
Saba will start semifinal action for the Blue Devils at 10 a.m. (EST), while Pinsky and Mengel follow him at 11:30 a.m., and 12 p.m., respectively.
