The Blue Devils' squad enters their second tournament of the fall after competing last weekend at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.
Freshman Henrique Cunha made the most of his first weekend, posting a 4-1 record with a win over the No. 2 player in the country and his only loss coming to the No. 5 player nationally. Cunha will compete in the A-3 singles bracket this weekend, drawing Alex Musialek of Kentucky in the first round. In the same bracket with Cunha will be Dylan Arnould, who is ranked No. 86 in the preseason singles rankings and will make his season debut. Arnould will face No. 67 Patricio Alvarado of Southern Miss to start things off.
Duke's other ranked singles player, No. 29 Reid Carleton, is the No. 2 seed in the A-1 singles draw. Carleton is 1-1 on the year and will play North Carolina's Ryan Noble in the first round Friday.
In the A-2 singles bracket, two sophomores for the Blue Devils will begin with matches against ranked opponents. David Holland will face No. 72 Simon Childs of Louisville. Luke Marchese has a tough test against No. 53 James Meredith of Boisie State to start things off. Holland is 2-1 on the season while Marchese is 1-1.
Sophomore Torsten Wietoska will face a top-25 opponent in the first round as he draws No. 20 Boris Conkic of Tennessee. Wietoska is 1-1 on the year.
In the B singles draw, junior Jared Pinsky will look for his first win of the year against Taylor Patrick of Tennessee.
There are four doubles brackets. Carleton and Cunha are the No. 2 seed in the A-1 doubles and will face Indiana's tandem of Armengaud and Ferguson. Arnould and Holland will team up to face Noble and Boyajian of North Carolina in A-2 doubles. Marchese and Wietoska will play No. 22 Peers and Melo of Middle Tennessee State.
The tournament will take place at the Snyder Tennis Center with play beginning Friday morning and lasting through Sunday.
