Durham, N.C. - Head coach David Cutcliffe spoke to a crowd of 300 people outside Tyler's Taproom in Durham Friday night as the Duke Athletics Tour made its final stop of 2009.
"This was pretty typical of a crowd that is enthusiastic and excited," said Cutcliffe. "It has been fun to see the numbers starting with Charlotte and ending up here in Durham. The crowds were great at every stop along the tour. That is a pretty good indication that Duke football has a lot of interest."
The Duke Athletics Tour consisted of 10 stops beginning April 28 in Charlotte and wrapping up Friday night in Durham. Other stops along the way included Asheville and Greenville, N.C., Richmond, Va., Atlanta, Sanford/Pinehurst, N.C., Greenville, S.C., Greensboro/Winston-Salem, N.C. and Raleigh.
Cutcliffe enters his second season at the helm of the Blue Devils' program. Duke began its preseason on Thursday evening and practiced for the second time Friday morning.
