DURHAM, N.C. - For the seventh straight year, the Duke women's soccer team has earned the 2009 NSCAA College Team Academic Award. The Blue Devils were one of 333 women's teams to post a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the 2008-09 academic year.
Duke was one of only 99 schools with both its men's and women's teams on the list. In examining the full list, only Duke and N.C. State had both teams selected from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
As a team, the Duke women's soccer team compiled a 3.45 grade-point average last year, which ranked the highest of any ACC school receiving the honor -- Florida State (3.23), Maryland (3.04) and N.C. State (3.01). Duke totaled 24 student-athletes on the ACC Honor Roll in 2008-09, which was the most of any women's soccer team.
The Blue Devils closed out the 2009 campaign with an 8-9-4 overall and 4-4-2 league record, while advancing to the first round of the NCAA Tournament under Head Coach Robbie Church.
