Duke comes in at No. 19, edging out Michigan State by one point. The Blue Devils are one of two ACC squads represented in the top 20. Earning spots in the individual rankings are redshirt seniors Konrad Dudziak and John Barone.
The Tournament Power Index (TPI) is compiled by awarding points to each team for the ranked wrestlers listed in WIN's current individual rankings. Teams are awarded points based on how many potential All-Americans they could have and get advancement points for wrestlers ranked No. 9-20.
Tabbed the top heavyweight in the nation, Dudziak is 7-0 this season with two tournament titles to his name. He was the national runner-up a year ago and became Duke's first All-America wrestler. The native of Bayonne, N.J., also is ranked first in the InterMat national rankings.
Barone is ranked 17th at 197 pounds after competing at that weight to start the season. He is 5-2 overall this season, taking runner-up honors in both tournaments. A native of Shirley, N.Y., Barone is 15th at 184 pounds in the InterMat poll. He is expected to return to 184 pounds in the near future.
The Blue Devils host Davidson College on Dec. 2 and will compete in the Southern Scuffle on Dec. 29-30.
