Duke extended its
NCAA-leading home win streak against non-conference opponents to 72 games. It
is the second longest streak in school history (95 from Feb. 2, 1983 to Nov.
29, 1995).
Duke scored 104 points,
marking the 104th time under coach K that the Blue Devils have
topped the 100-point mark. The Blue Devils are 102-2 in those
contests.
Duke scored over 100
points in back-to-back games for the first time since 2000-01 when they won
102-60 over Davidson (Dec. 5, 2000) and 104-61 over Michigan (Dec. 9, 2000). Duke has gone over
100 points in consecutive games 17 times under Coach K.
The 59
points in the first half were the most in a half for the Blue Devils since they
scored 59 in the second half at Miami
on Feb. 20, 2008. Duke shot .500 (20-40) in the first 20 minutes of play,
including a .591 (13-22) mark from beyond the three-point arc.
Duke
was 18-of-32 (.563) from behind the three-point line, matching the school
record for three-point field goals in a game. Duke also made 18 threes in a
game on Dec. 30, 2000 against N.C. A&T and March 15, 2001 against Monmouth.
Duke
made 13 three-pointers in the first half, shooting .591 (13-22) from beyond the
arc during that span. The 13 treys matched Radford's total field goals during
that span. The 13 first half three-pointers also matched the school record for
threes in a half. Duke also made 13 threes in a the first half on Dec. 30, 2000
against N.C. A&T and March 15, 2001 against Monmouth.
For
the fourth straight game, Duke outrebounded its opponent, holding a 45-38 edge
on Saturday.
Duke
had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.125:1 for the game, dishing out 25 assists
compared to just eight turnovers. The 25 assists is a season high, surpassing
the 21 that Duke racked up on Tuesday against Charlotte. Duke had 15 assists (on 25 field
goals) and just four turnovers in the first half.
Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith
and Jon Scheyer each finished with
seven assists in the game, marking the second time in school history three
players have had seven or more assists in a game. The only other time it
happened was Jan. 20, 1994 at N.C.
State (Chris Collins 8,
Jeff Capel 7, Grant Hill 7).
The Blue Devils finished
with 20+ assists in consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 6, 2009 and
Dec. 17, 2009 against Michigan
and UNC Asheville.
Saturday's
game marked the 13th time in school history that Duke has scored
over 100 points, while turning the ball over fewer than 10 times. The last time
the Blue Devils accomplished that feat was Feb. 14, 2002 against N.C. State
(108 points, nine turnovers).
Duke
finished with less than 10 turnovers for the second straight game.
Duke is now 50-14 when ranked ninth in the AP poll. The Blue Devils
have won nine straight games
when ranked No. 9 in the country.
The
Blue Devils are 100-10 in the
month of November under Coach K. Duke has won 20 straight games in the month, dating back to a Nov. 21, 2006
loss to Marquette.
Freshman
Andre Dawkins poured in a
career-high 20 points on 7-of-9 (.778) shooting from the field.
Dawkins
hit four straight three-pointers in the first half and finished the game
6-for-8 (.750) from beyond the arc. The six three-point field goals match a
Duke freshmen record shared by Trajan Langdon, J.J. Redick, Kyle Singler and
Taylor King.
Dawkins
did not have a turnover in 22 minutes of action. He has just one turnover in 83
minutes this season.
Senior
Jon Scheyerscored 18 points, for
his 80th career double figure scoring game
Scheyer
went 4-of-7 from three-point range and is now shooting 47.8 percent (11-of-23)
from three-point range on the year. It was the 34th game of his
career with three or more three-pointers
Scheyer
also had seven assists with zero turnovers in 28 minutes of action. Scheyer has
not turned the ball over in four games this year, while dishing out a team-high
21 assists.
Junior
Kyle Singler extended his
consecutive starts streak to 31 games and has now started in 74 career
contests.
With
13 points, Singler reached double figures in scoring for the 19th straight game
and 63rd time in his career.
Singler also had seven
rebounds, a career-high seven assists, one block and one steal. He is just the
10th Duke player to post three career games with at least seven
points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a game.
Singler knocked down
three three-pointers for his 18th career game with three or more
three-point field goals.
Senior
Brian Zoubek grabbed nine rebounds,
including five on the offensive end of the court. Zoubek now has a team-high 19
offensive rebounds on the year
Zoubek is averaging 8.5
rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game. He is averaging 21.9 rebounds per 40 minutes
played on the season.
