SORRENTO, FLA. ? Duke University sophomore Alison Whitaker carded a career-best seven-under-par, 65, on Sunday at the UCF Challenge to Benefit Florida Children's Hospital and leads the individual action by one stroke with 36 holes remaining. As a team, the Blue Devils are one shot off the lead, after turning in a six-under-par, 282, in the opening round.
As the morning play was delayed for just over an hour due to frost, the cold weather did not last long as the scores went low in the first round.
In the team standings, Southern California leads the field with a seven-under-par, 281, followed by Duke (282), Pepperdine (285), UCLA (286), Oklahoma State (286), Purdue (289), Georgia (289), Louisiana State (290), Auburn (292), UCF (292) and Florida (292).
