Blumenherst Moves Into A Tie For First At The Liz Murphey

ATHENS, GA. ? Duke University junior Amanda Blumenherst carded an even-par, 72, on Saturday to move into a tie for first at the Liz Murphey College Classic, which is being played at the 6,335-yard, Par 72 University of Georgia Golf Course.
As a team, top-ranked Duke carded a tied for team-best 18-hole total of 300 on day two to move into a tie for seventh. Georgia also shot a 300 and is the leader after 36 holes by three strokes over Purdue. The Bulldogs own a two-day total of 602, while Purdue (605), Alabama (609), Kent State (610), Arkansas (612), Louisiana State (613), Duke (614), Auburn (614), Tennessee (618) and Wake Forest (621) rounded out the top 10.
Heading into Saturday's action, Duke was 17 strokes off the lead, but will now enter the final round 12 strokes behind. The Blue Devils made only three birdies on Friday and came back with 11 birdies on Saturday.
Blumenherst, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., owns a 36-hole total of 146 with rounds of 74 and 72 and is tied with Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Purdue for the individual lead. After opening the round on the 10th hole, Blumenherst made the turn with a one-over-par, 38, and then closed the day with three birdies over her final five holes to finish even par.
Blue Devil freshman Kim Donovan carded an even-par, 72, on Saturday and is now tied for 13th with a 152. Donovan, who is from Hopkinton, Mass., had an even par round for the third time this season as she totaled a team-best four birdies on the day. She played her final 12 holes at two-under-par.
Junior Jennie Lee turned in a 77 on Saturday and is tied for 31st with a 156, while senior Jennifer Pandolfi is tied for 68th with a 161 after totaling a 79. Alison Whitaker had her second straight 81 and is tied for 74th with a 162. Playing as an individual, sophomore Yu Young Lee is tied for 82nd with a 164, as she had an 84 on Saturday.
Duke will tee off on Sunday in the final round beginning at 10:40 a.m. along with Virginia and Central Florida.
