DURHAM, N.C. ? The NSCAA/adidas All-Region teams have been released with junior Elisabeth Redmond, junior KayAnne Gummersall and senior Lorraine Quinn each selected to the All-Southeast Region teams.
Redmond was named to the second team, while both Quinn and Gummersall earned third team accolades.
A product of Morristown, N.J., Redmond registered a career-high 12 goals on the season to go along with four assists and 28 points on the year. Her five game-winning goals was tied for the team lead and ranked tied for fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) stats. In other ACC stats, Redmond ranked tied for sixth in points, sixth in goals, sixth in goals per game (0.52) and tied for seventh in points per game (1.22).
Redmond opened the season on fire notching eight goals over her first seven matches and finished the season with four multi-goal games. In the NCAA College Cup, she notched goals against Radford and Virginia.
Quinn, a native of Farmingdale, N.Y., earned All-Region honors for the second straight year following another solid season in the midfield position. On the season, Quinn notched five goals, seven assists and 17 points for the Blue Devils. She notched a career day against Georgia with three goals, which all came in the first half. Quinn also posted two game-winning goals.
After suffering from an ankle injury for most of her sophomore season, Gummersall came back strong in 2008 with a team-best 15 goals and 34 points. She also added four assists and five game-winning goals. In the ACC stats, Gummersall ranked third in points, tied for third in goals, third in points per game (1.42) and fourth in goals per game (0.62).
Gummersall played some of her best soccer at the end of the season as she notched goals in each of the four NCAA College Cup contests, while finishing the year with three multi-goal games.
In the final NCAA stats, Gummersall ranked 59th in points per game (1.42), Redmond was 92nd in points per game (1.22), while Gummersall ranked 41st in goals per game (0.625) and 75th in goals per game (0.522). The due of Gummersall and Redmond combined for 27 goals, which ranks as the highest scoring tandem in Duke history.
