CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.?Duke University women's tennis doubles pair of Amanda Granson and Melissa Mang competed at the prestigious ITA National Indoors Championship today at the Boar's Head Sports Club. The duo was seeded second in the 16-team field.
After not having played together for a month, Granson and Mang lined up against Nanar Airapetian and Anouk Tigu of Arkansas in the opening round. The Blue Devils battled hard, but were unable to get past the Razorbacks as they fell 8-3. It marked the sixth straight win for Airapetian and Tigu as they recently captured the ITA Central Region Championship title.
Granson and Mang are now 3-4 in the fall season and 2-2 against nationally ranked opponents. The ITA National Indoor Championships features the top tennis talent from across the nation. Granson and Mang earned a spot through their play at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championship earlier in the year.
The Blue Devils close out their fall season in the Duke/UNC Invitational on Nov. 7-9.
