DURHAM, N.C. - Senior forward David McClure sat down with GoDuke.com to talk about Thanksgiving, his first job and more.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
David McClure: It's a toss-up between stuffing and cranberry sauce.
GD: What is your best Thanksgiving memory?
DM: We used to have Thanksgiving with our family friends, and when we were younger after we ate, the kids would all run around watching movies and playing video games. I remember one time when I was around five, I got dared to run around the house 25 times for a nickel.
GD: What is your favorite holiday?
DM: Probably Christmas. It's the one time we all get together now as a family.
GD: What do you watch on TV?
DM: I like LOST, Heroes, and my favorite is probably The Sopranos, but now it's over.
GD: What music do you listen to?
DM: A collection of everything, mostly mellow stuff, whether R&B or acoustic-style stuff. I do listen to hip-hop and rap, but I'm more of an R&B guy.
GD: What is your favorite movie?
DM: That's a tough one because I'm a big movie guy. I love A Bronx Tale, Scent of a Woman, The Last Samurai, and some others.
GD: What websites do you visit most?
DM: Probably IMDB, because I do watch a lot of movies so I want to know what other movies people have been in and stuff like that. And Facebook, I have to admit.
GD: What is your worst habit?
DM: Biting my nails.
GD: What was your first job?
DM: I was a caddy at a country club up the street from my house. It was a pain to get up at 5:30 in the morning on my weekends off and ride my bike straight up a hill to get there, and then walk around the course for another 4 or 5 hours.
GD: What is your favorite meal?
DM: My mother's meatloaf.
GD: What talent would you most like to have?
DM: I want to play an instrument like guitar or piano.
GD: Who is your favorite athlete to watch in another sport.
DM: Tiger Woods, or if it's a good Federer-Nadal match, I like to watch those.
GD: What is your favorite city to visit?
DM: The only one I've spent a long time in is New York City.
GD: What was your favorite sports team growing up?
DM: The Chicago Bulls.
GD: Who is your hero?
DM: My parents.
GD: What is your bucket list?
DM: One thing that's kind of crazy is I'd love to jump out of an airplane just once.
GD: What is your motto?
DM: In the song “Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head,” the line that says, ?You're never gonna stop the rain by complaining.'
GD: What is your favorite part about playing basketball at Duke?
DM: Everything. The crowd, the tradition, the excitement, the brotherhood, the family. Everything.
GD: What is your favorite class ever taken at Duke?
DM: Either my sports marketing class or my freshman year physics seminar.
GD: What is your favorite thing about playing in Cameron Indoor Stadium?
DM: Never knowing what to expect from the Crazies. They always seem to come up with something unique and original.
GD: What is your best Cameron memory?
DM: Either my sophomore year when Sean [Dockery] hit the game-winner against Virginia Tech, or my junior year when I hit the game-winner against Clemson.
GD: Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus?
DM: I love to go to The Loop just to grab food and hang out there.
