No. 8-ranked opened the season with an 80-49 victory over Presbyterian in the first round of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer on November 10, 2008, at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.
Duke vs. Presbyterian Series
? No. 8 Duke and Presbyterian met for the first time on Monday with the Blue Devils claiming an 80-49 victory.
? Duke is now 25-9 against teams from the Big South Conference. They have faced five other Big South schools, including High Point (3-0), Liberty (1-0), Radford (1-0), VMI (18-9) and Winthrop (1-0)
Duke In Early Season Tournaments
? With a win in the first round of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer, the Blue Devils now have a 1-2 record in the tournament. Duke lost its games against Stanford and Connecticut in the tournament in New York to open up the 1999-2000 season.
? Duke is now 48-9 in major midseason tournaments, including the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, Maui Invitational, CBE Classic, Preseason NIT, Great Alaska Shootout and Rainbow Classic.
? The Blue Devils have won four straight games in major midseason tournaments. They went 3-0 to claim the Maui Invitational Championship last season.
Season and Home Openers
? Head coach Mike Krzyzewski improved to 27-2 in season openers at Duke.
? Duke has won nine consecutive season openers by an average of 32.8 points per game. The Blue Devils' last season-opening loss was an 80-79 decision against Stanford in the 1999 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Madison Square Garden.
? The Blue Devils have won 27 straight home openers and are 28-1 in home openers under Mike Krzyzewski. Duke's last loss in a home opener was a 76-75 double-overtime defeat to Vanderbilt on Nov. 28, 1982.
Duke In November
? Duke is now 104-16 all-time in November, including 90-10 under Coach K and 41-2 since 1997-98. The Blue Devils have won 10 straight games in the month of November.
? The Blue Devils played their first ever game on November 10. Monday's game marked the second earliest start in school history. Duke played its earliest game last season when they defeated N.C. Central at home on November 9.
Krzyzewski Climbs Victory Ladder
? Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski earned his 804th victory as a head coach Monday to move into a tie for fifth with Eddie Sutton in NCAA Division I history and first among active coaches.
? Krzyzewski is now 26 victories shy of Jim Phelan for fourth all-time.
? Coach K now has 731 wins as the head coach at Duke, ranking him sixth in NCAA Division I history for victories at one school and second among active coaches (Jim Boeheim, Syracuse ? 771). Krzyzewski is 28 wins shy of Western Kentucky's Ed Diddle for fifth all-time.
? Krzyzewski's 804 victories are the second most by a head coach through 34 years of coaching. Only Dean Smith of North Carolina won more games with 830 victories.
Non-Conference Home Winning Streak
? With a win over Presbyterian, Duke stretched its NCAA-leading non-conference home winning streak to 60 consecutive games. The Blue Devils' last home loss to a non-conference team was an 83-82 decision against St. John's on Feb. 26, 2000.
? The 60 straight non-conference home wins is the second longest streak in school history. The Blue Devils won 95 straight from Feb. 2, 1983 through Nov. 29, 1995.
? Duke has won 190 of its last 193 non-conference games at home.
Offensive Notes
? Duke scored 80 points against Presbyterian and is now 460-45 under Coach K when scoring 80+ points.
? Four Blue Devils scored in double figures. Duke has had at least four players average in double figures in 16 of the past 19 seasons.
? Duke went 3-for-11 from behind the three-point line and has now made at least one trey in 654 consecutive games, the fourth longest streak in the NCAA.
? The Blue Devils held a 44-29 rebounding advantage against Presbyterian with 14 offensive rebounds. Duke is 458-53 under Coach K when outrebounding its opposition. The 14 offensive rebounds led to 19 second chance points.

? The Blue Devils held Presbyterian to 30.2-percent (16-of-53) shooting from the field. Duke is 280-9 under Coach K when holding opponents under 40 percent shooting.
? Duke held the Blue Hose to 17.6 percent from behind the three-point line, the 119th time the Blue Devils have held its opponent under 20 percent from deep. Duke has a 107-12 record in those contests.
? Duke tallied 17 steals on Monday, the most since the Blue Devils recorded 17 steals against UNC Greensboro on Nov. 16, 2006. The 17 steals rank tied for the 14th most in a single game in school history.
? The Blue Devils forced 28 turnovers by the Blue Hose. When forcing 25 or more turnovers, Duke is 116-9 all-time. The Blue Devils have won 52 of the last 53 games when forcing 25 or more turnovers. Greg Paulus
? Greg Paulus scored five points to go along with two rebounds, two assists and four steals.
? With four steals Greg Paulus now has 148 in his career. He moved past DeMarcus Nelson (145) and Nate James (147) into 20th place all-time. It is the 18th time in his career he has tallied three or more steals.
Jon Scheyer
? Junior tri-captain Jon Scheyer made his first start since Feb. 23, 2008 when he made the staring lineup against St. John's.
? Jon Scheyer recorded his 47th career game in double figures with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
? Scheyer also added three rebounds, three assists and two steals with no turnovers. Last season he was just the fifth Duke player with more steals than turnovers.
Lance Thomas
? Junior forward Lance Thomas scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and 2-of-3 from the free throw line. It is the eighth time in his career, Thomas has scored in double figures.
? The 12 points and five field goals made tie for the second most in Thomas' career. His career highs are 15 points and seven field goals against Air Force in 2006.
? Thomas added five rebounds in the game, giving him 19 career games with five or more rebounds.
Kyle Singler
? Sophomore forward Kyle Singler extended his starts streak to 35 straight games. He has started in every game during his two seasons with the Blue Devils. The 35 consecutive starts to begin a career is the eighth most by a Duke player.
? Singler recorded his fifth career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. It is the 26th time he has scored in double figures and fifth game with 10 or more rebounds.
? The double double in the season opener is the 39th in school history and first in four years when Shelden Williams (13 points, 15 rebounds) and Shavlik Randolph (11 points, 12 rebounds) each posted double-doubles against Tennessee-Martin on Nov. 20, 2004.
? Singler made 8-of-9 from the free throw line to match his career high for free throws made.
Nolan Smith
? Sophomore point guard Nolan Smith made his second career start Monday against Presbyterian. His only start as a freshman came against Cornell on January 6, 2008.
? Smith scored the first two points of the 2008-09 season for the Blue Devils with a jumper in the lane.
? Finished the game with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, 1-of-2 from the three-point line and 2-of-2 from the free throw line for his seventh career double-figure scoring game.
? Smith's three steals matched a career high. He also had three steals at Temple on Jan. 9, 2007.
Miles Plumlee
? True freshman forward Miles Plumlee became the 25th Duke freshman to start in his first collegiate game since 1975-76. Eight of the previous 24 players started every game of their freshman season. Four of Plumlee's teammates (David McClure, Jon Scheyer, Brian Zoubek and Kyle Singler) started in their first collegiate game.

? 1,850-810 all-time, including 731-208 under Coach K. Duke became the fourth school in NCAA history to record 1,850 wins (after Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas).
