No. 3 Duke defeated N.C. State, 92-72, on January 31, 2008, at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke improves to 18-1 overall and 6-0 in the ACC while the Wolfpack fall to 13-7 and 2-4, respectively.
Series Notes
- Duke now leads the series 133-96 and snapped the Wolfpack's one game win streak. Duke is 92-64 in conference play and 62-44 in ACC play.
- Duke is 44-23 at Cameron Indoor Stadium and has won 11 straight at Cameron against the Wolfpack while the Blue Devils are 42-19 under Coach K.

- Coach K now has 720 wins at Duke and moves into sole position of seventh place on the NCAA's chart for most wins at one school. He surpassed UTEP's Don Haskins, who had 719. In sixth place is Ray Meyer (724) from DePaul. Coach K is also second among active coaches behind Syracuse's Jim Boeheim (763)
- Duke's 18-1 record through 19 games is tied for the best in school history. This is the ninth time in school history Duke has been 18-1 after 19 games. Duke has also been 18-1 seven times in the last 11 years and eight times under Coach K.
Win Streaks & Records
- Duke has won eight straight overall including all six of its ACC games. Duke is the only undefeated team in ACC play.
- Duke is 6-0 in the ACC this season, marking the 11th time Duke has started 6-0 or better in league play, and eighth time in the last 11 seasons.
- Duke has now sold out 268 consecutive games at Cameron Indoor Stadium dating back to Nov. 16, 1990, against Boston College. Overall, Duke has now played in front of a sold out venue in 222 of its last 260 games, as well.

- Duke is now 460-194 all-time in the month of January, including 189-54 under Coach K. Duke has won 13 straight and 87 of its last 94.
- Duke is now 16-8 all-time on Jan. 31 and the Blue Devils have won three straight on this date and are 5-2 under Coach K.
Tale Of Two Halves
- In the first half, Duke scored 37 points and shot 11-of-24 (.458) from the field, 2-of-9 (.222) from behind the arc. Duke had just nine rebounds and had six assists vs. seven turnovers. In the second half, Duke scored 55 points, shot 21-of-32 (.656) from the field (19.8 percent better), 7-of-11 (.636) from behind the arc (41.4 percent better) and had 19 rebounds (10 more), including 10 offensive. The Blue Devils also had nine assists vs. just four turnovers in the second half.
- Duke improved its offensive output by 18 points in the second half (55 to 37), the largest margin of the season by five points.
- Duke outscored N.C. State 55-26 in the second half. The 29-point margin is the second highest of the season, behind a 32 point second half (67-35) vs. N.C. Central in the season opener.
- In the last two games, Duke has outscored its opponent 104-59 in the second half, or 52.0 to 29.5, a difference of 22.5 points per game. In ACC play, Duke has outscored its opponents by an average of 12.7 points per game in the second half.
- Defensively, Duke allowed N.C. State just 26 points, tying Virginia Tech for the lowest output by a Duke opponent.
- Duke held the Wolfpack to just seven rebounds and forced nine turnovers to just four assists.
Duke Offense
- Duke had four players with 18 or more points, marking just the seventh time in Duke history, and third under Coach K, that has happened. The last time it happened was Jan. 7, 2001, vs. Clemson (Carlos Boozer ? 25; Shane Battier ? 21; Nate James ? 21; and Jason Williams ? 18).
- Greg Paulus scored 22 points, becoming the sixth different Duke player to record a 20-point game this season. That is the second-highest total for a season in Duke history, behind seven different players in 1973-74. Six other seasons have seen six different players with a 20-point game, the last time in 2004-05.
- Duke's 92 points marks the sixth time this season Duke has surpassed the 90 point mark, including the third time in the last four games. Duke was right on its average of 92.7 points per game at home this season and is now averaging 86.0 in ACC games this season.
- Duke's 20-point win is exactly on its scoring margin for the season that leads the ACC and ranks third in the NCAA. It marked Duke's ninth 20-point win this season and was the 15th win by double digits.
- Duke was 23-of-36 (.639) from two-point distance against N.C. State. In ACC play this season, Duke is 135-of-227 (.595) from inside the arc.
- Duke's 32-of-56 (.571) shooting performance marked the eighth game this season that Duke has shot 50 percent or better. Duke is 8-0 this season and 410-30 under Coach K when hitting at 50 percent or better.
- Duke's bench managed just 11 points, but the starters combined for 81 of Duke's 92 points, the highest scoring output from its starters this season. In the last two games, Duke's starters have score 156 (78.0) points.
- Duke trailed 46-37 at the half, marking the second straight game and second time in 19 games this season that the Blue Devils have trailed at intermission.
Duke Defense
- Despite allowing N.C. State to hit 4-of-5 from behind the arc in the first half, the Blue Devils tightened down and didn't allow another triple. No team has made more than four three pointers against the Blue Devils in ACC play this season. Duke's opponents are just 21-of-73 (.287) on the season. Overall, Duke's opponents are 88-of-292 (.301).
- Duke has recorded 10 or more steals 10 times this season, including six times in the last seven games while averaging 11.2 per game in ACC play.
- Duke forced 18 turnovers from the Wolfpack and allowed just 11 assists, marking the 16th time in 19 games Duke's opponents have had more turnovers than assists.
Coach K
- Coach K is now 793-262 as a head coach, ranking sixth on the NCAA wins chart and third among active coaches. Eddie Sutton is fifth overall and second among active coaches with 799 wins while first overall is Coach K's college coach, Bob Knight, with 901 wins.
- With 793 career wins in his first 33 seasons, Coach K is currently second on the NCAA's list of most victories in a coaches' first 33 season. He trails Dean Smith, who had 802 wins through 33 seasons.
- Coach K now has 793 wins in 1,055 career games and is looking to become the third-fastest coach to 800 wins based on number of games. Adolph Rupp (972) and Dean Smith (1,029) are already out of reach and Bobby Knight is currently third, accomplishing the feat in (1,102 games).
Greg Paulus
- The junior had a season high 22 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 5-of-8 from behind the arc. He also hit 5-of-8 from the line, missing two late in the game. He added six assists without a turnover and three steals in 33 minutes.
- Paulus' free throw streak ended at 25 after he hit his first two against N.C. State before his first miss in seven games. He has now connected on 28 of his last 31 (.903) and is 19-of-22 (.864) in ACC play. He has connected on 38-of-45 (.844) on the season.
- Paulus has now hit a three-pointer in 18 out of 19 games this season and in 46 of 52 games dating back to the start of his sophomore campaign.
- Paulus now has six career 20-point games and three straight games scoring in double figures. Additionally, he's had at least nine points in eight straight games. He also has 41 career games scoring in double figures.
- Paulus now has five games this season with three or more steals and 15 such games in his career.
- Paulus tied his career high with five three pointers and has six games this season hitting at least three 3-pointers and 19 such games in his career.
- Paulus has 67 assists to just 29 turnovers on the season for a 2.31 ratio. In the last seven games, he has a 3.86 ratio (27-to-7).
DeMarcus Nelson
- The senior scored 18 points, shooting 5-of-10 from the field, 1-of-3 from behind the arc, and 7-of-10 from the line. He added five rebounds, three assists and three steals in 38 minutes.
- He is averaging 16.3 points per game at home and has hit on 58-of-103 (.563) from the field and 18-of-38 (.474) from long distance.
- In his last five home games, Nelson is averaging 21.6 points per game and is 37-of-55 (.673) from the field and 12-of-21 (.571) from behind the arc.
- In ACC play, he is 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.4 steals per game while hitting 39-of-71 (.549) from the field.
- Nelson now has 1,126 career points and moved from 45th to 43rd on Duke's career scoring chart. He moved past Nate James and Willie Hodge and is immediately behind Alaa Abdelnaby (1,137).
- Nelson has reached double figures in four straight games, 11 of his last 12 and 16 of 19 on the season, and in 59 career games.
Kyle Singler
- The freshman had 19 points, shooting 8-of-14 from the field, 2-of-6 from behind the arc, and 1-of-2 from the line.
- He has hit at least one three-pointer in eight straight games and in 13 of the last 14 and has reached double figures in 13 games this season.
Gerald Henderson
- The sophomore scored 18 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the field, 2-of-2 from the line, and added six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
- Henderson is now shooting 37-of-60 (.617) from the field in ACC play, ranking second in the league while averaging 16.3 points per game.
- Henderson has reached double figures in six straight games and in 16 games this season and 23 in his career.
