CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The 16th-ranked Duke men's tennis team fell to No. 2 Virginia, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. With the loss, the Blue Devils fall to 14-8 (7-3 ACC), while the Cavaliers improve to 22-3 (10-0 ACC) with the win.

Doubles play saw tough competition across the board, but the Cavaliers prevailed, taking all three matches.

The 47th-ranked team of Houston Barrick and Dominic Inglot defeated the Blue Devil tandem of junior Ned Samuelson and freshman Dylan Arnould, 8-5, at the No. 2 spot, before Ted Angelinos and Lee Singer clinched the point for Virginia with a 9-7 win over senior Peter Rodrigues and sophomore Kiril Dimitrov at the No. 3 position. The loss was the first of the season for the Duke duo, as their dual record now stands at 10-1.

At No. 1, the second-ranked Cavalier team of Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey defeated the fifth-ranked tandem of senior Joey Atas and junior David Goulet, 9-8 (2).

Singles action saw the Cavaliers take the first three matches, as Barrick defeated Arnould at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2 and 22nd-ranked Huey posted a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over 69th-ranked Atas at No. 2, before Singer got past junior Alex Stone, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6 to clinch the win for UVA.

No. 115 Rodrigues posted Duke's lone singles win with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over No. 104 Inglot. Rodrigues is 8-0 when playing at the third position and 16-5 in dual matches on the year, including a 9-1 mark versus ACC opponents.

After the match was decided, 48th-ranked Dimitrov fell to second-ranked Somdev Devvarman, 6-3, 7-6 (4), at the top singles spot, and Goulet lost a 6-4, 7-6 (1) decision to Marko Miklo at the No. 4 slot.

The Blue Devils will close out the regular season on Sunday in Blacksburg, Va., as Duke takes on 38th-ranked Virginia Tech at 2:30 p.m.
