With their 95-67 win against Michigan, marking the beginning of CBS's coverage of college basketball in 2007-08, the No. 6/7 Duke Blue Devils improve to 9-0 on the season while the Wolverines fall to 3-6. Duke has now won six straight against the Wolverines and coach Mike Krzyzewski is now 12-4 against Michigan. Overall, Duke is 18-7 against Michigan in the series, including 8-3 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke is now 60-23 against teams from the Big Ten Conference, including 3-0 this season. Duke has also won five straight against Big Ten teams and eight of their last nine. In three games against the Big Ten this year, Duke has won by an average of 21.7 points per game. The Blue Devils defeated Wisconsin by 24 and Michigan today by 28.
Duke has now won 56 straight non-conference home games, the longest active streak in the nation and second-longest in Duke history. Duke last lost at home on Feb. 26, 2000, in a 83-82 decision to St. John's.
Duke has now won 35 straight games in December and is 39-1 since 2000-01.
Duke is now 9-0 for the third time in the last four years and for the 13th time in 28 seasons under Coach K.
Duke has now sold out 263 consecutive games at Cameron Indoor Stadium dating back to a game against Boston College on Nov. 16, 1990.
Duke score 57 bench points against Michigan and outscored the Wolverines by 31 points on the bench (57-26) At halftime, Duke's bench had outscored Michigan's 27-0. The 57 points is the second most of the season and fourth most all time (starters and bench players known since 1975-76). Duke's bench scored 67 against N.C. Central to open the season.
Duke now has 18 games in its history where the bench has scored 50 or more points. Duke has two such performances this season, the second most behind three such performances in 1987-88 and 1997-98. Duke also had two 50-plus point bench performances in 1990-91, 1991-92 and 2002-03.
Duke hit 11-of-27 from behind the arc and those 11 triples were hit by seven different players. The game today marked just the seventh time in Duke history that seven or more different players hit a three-pointer in a game. Twice in Duke history have eight players hit three-pointers. Seven players also hit threes against N.C. Central and this 2007-08 version of the Blue Devils is the first to have seven or more players hit three pointers in a game more than one time.
Five Blue Devils scored in double figures for the third straight game and for the fourth time this season. The three straight games marks the first time since 2002-03 that feat has been accomplished. Duke last had five or more players in three straight games against Davidson (11/25), UCLA (11/30) and Ohio State (12/5) in the first half of the 2002-03 season.
Taylor King led the way for Duke scoring 18 points, hitting 7-of-12 from the field, 3-of-8 from behind the arc, and added five rebounds and two blocks. King is averaging 17.4 points in five home games this season and in those games, he is 21-of-40 from behind the arc. King now has four games scoring in double figures.
Nolan Smith scored 17 points, besting his season/career high by a point. He was 7-of-9 from the field, 1-of-3 from behind the arc and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. He had five rebounds in 20 minutes of action, as well. It marked his second game scoring in double figures.
Gerald Henderson scored 12 points, reaching double figures for the eighth time this season and 15th in his career, and added seven rebounds and four assists for the Blue Devils.
DeMarcus Nelson scored 10 points, reaching double figures for the 50th time in his career and seventh this season.
Jon Scheyer scored in double figures for the sixth time in nine games this season and for the 29th time in his career.
