With their 65-64 loss to No. 11/9 Pittsburgh on Dec. 20 at Madison Square Garden, the No. 6/7 Duke Blue Devils fall to 10-1 on the season while the Panthers improve to 11-0. Tonight marked the 12th meeting between the two schools and the season series is now tied at 6-6. This is the first time coach Mike Krzyzewski has faced Pittsburgh. Duke is now 101-42 against the Big East including a 1-1 mark this season after also getting a 77-73 win over then No. 10/13 Marquette in the championship game of the Maui Invitational.
The loss marked the first loss in the month of December since 2000-01, snapping a streak of 36 straight games.

DeMarcus Nelson scored 14 points, dished out six assists and had five rebounds against the Panthers. It marked his ninth game this season in double figures and his fourth straight. He went from 59th to 56th on Duke's career scoring chart, passing Elton Brand (1998-99, 972), Corren Youmans (1947-50, 973) and Dahntay Jones (2001-03, 975). He now has 984 career points and immediately ahead in 55th is Rick Kathermann with 1,005. In his last five games, he's averaging 5.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
Greg Paulus hit one three-pointer in the game to bring his career total to 112 and he moves out of a tie with Nate James and Lee Melchionni and into sole possession of 13th place in Duke history. Immediately ahead is Phil Henderson with 128 career triples.
Gerald Henderson tied for the Duke high with 17 points and he has reached double figures in nine of 11 games this season and five of the last six. He added a pair of rebounds, pair of steals, one assist and one block to his performance.
Jon Scheyer struggled from the field, hitting just 1-of-10 field goal attempts, but he did record a career-high 12 rebounds, his first career double-figure rebounding effort.
Kyle Singler scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and had a pair of assists in 39 minutes. He has seven games in double figures this year and breaks a string of two straight games failing to score in double figures. He has also recorded five or more rebounds in eight of 11 games this year.
With 37 minutes from DeMarcus Nelson and 34 from Greg Paulus, they became the 41st and 42nd player in school history to record 2,500 minutes played. Nelson is currently at 2,530 and Paulus 2,524.
