With its 121-56 win over N.C. Central on Nov. 9, 2007, Duke has now won eight straight season openers and improves to 26-2 under coach Mike Krzyzewski and 79-24 all-time. In home season openers, Duke has now won 26 straight and is 27-1 under Coach K.
In the last eight season openers, Duke has won by an average of 34.0 points per game.
Tonight marked the earliest season opener in Duke history, topping the 1999-2000 season opener, a 80-79 loss to No. 13 Stanford on Nov. 11 in the Coaches vs. Cancer classic.
Duke now has won 52 straight non-conference home games, the longest streak in the nation. Sam Houston State is second on the list with 35 such wins. Duke has won 182 of its last 185 non-conference home games. Duke has also won 156 of its last 169 overall games in Cameron.
Seven Blue Devils scored in double figures against N.C. Central, tied for the second-highest total in Duke history. Three times eight different players have recorded double figures in points. This is the first time Duke has had seven or more players score in double figures since Nov. 21, 1998, in a 120-56 win over S.C. State.
Duke's 121 points is tied for the sixth-highest total in Duke history and is Duke's highest point total since scoring 126 against Mercer on Dec. 21, 1997. It's tied for the fourth-highest total under Coach K.
Duke's 67 second half points is the third-highest total for points in any half in Duke history. Duke has twice scored 72 points and now four times scored 67 points in a half. It is the most points in a half since scoring 67 in the second half against Portland on Nov. 25, 2001.
Duke's 65 point margin of victory (121-56) is tied for the fourth-largest margin in Duke history and second highest total under Coach K. Duke recorded a 130-54 win over Harvard on Nov. 25, 1989, and that marks the last time Duke has won a game by 65 or more points.
Duke's 27 assists is tied for the 13th most in school history and most since Duke recorded 28 against N.C. A&T on Dec. 30, 2000.
Duke hit 16-of-28 three-pointers against N.C. Central. The 16 triples is tied for the sixth-highest total in Duke history, just two shy of the single game record of 18. The last time Duke hit 16 or more three-pointers was March 15, 2001, when they tied the record with 18 against Monmouth in the NCAA Tournament.
Duke is now 1-0 against N.C. Central in official play. Central is playing its first-ever NCAA Division I basketball contest. The two teams have met each of the last three seasons in exhibition action, with Duke winning all three by a 42.0 per game average.
Duke is 546-93 against unranked competition under Coach K, including a 234-23 record since 1997-98. Also since 1997-98, Duke is 116-4 at home against unranked teams.
Duke has now sold out 259 straight games at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke's freshman trio of Taylor King, Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith combined to score 51 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, five blocks and one steal in their first ever game.
King scored 20 points, hitting 5-of-7 three-pointers in his 7-of-9 field goal performance, in just 19 minutes of action. He added six rebounds, three assists and two blocks, as well. He became the fourth freshman in Duke history to record 20 or more points in his first collegiate game. His five triples is the most by a player in Duke history in their first game. Jon Scheyer hit four in his first game last season while Jason Williams and J.J. Redick each had three in their first ever games as a Blue Devil.
Singler scored 15 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 5-of-5 from the line in his first collegiate game, and added eight rebounds and three blocks. His three blocks ties the Duke record for most by a player in their first game. Three others have recorded three blocks in their first game, the last was Cherokee Parks in 1991-92.
Smith scored 16 points and had four assists for Duke in 20 minutes of action. He was 5-of-8 from the field and 2-of-3 from behind the arc. His four assists is tied for the second-most by a freshman in his first game in Duke history.
Gerald Henderson recorded 15 points, had five rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks for the Blue Devils. It marks his eighth career game scoring in double figures.
DeMarcus Nelson recorded 10 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes of action for Duke, marking his 44th career game scoring in double figures.
Martynas Pocius scored in double figures for the third time in his career Friday, recording 10 points, four rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes of action.
Jon Scheyer recorded 13 points while hitting on 3-of-4 from behind the arc, and had a game-high six assists, four rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes of action for Duke. It marks his 24th career game scoring in double figures. His six assists ties his career high, set against George Mason on Dec. 9, 2006.
