DURHAM, N.C.
- Duke rising sophomore Melissa Mang fell to Kelcy Teft of Notre Dame in ITA National Championship action on Sunday.
Teft defeated Mang 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 16. Mang was the top seed in the women's bracket, as just two of the top eight women's seeds will continue on to the main-draw quarterfinals on Monday.
Mang was a 2006 All-ACC selection after a stellar freshman campaign helped the Blue Devils to a 20-8 overall record that included a trip to the NCAA quarterfinals for the 13th time in school history and third time in the last four years. The Metairie, La., native then became the sixth player in program history and first since 2001 to receive ACC Freshman of the Year accolades. Mang also earned a spot on the Academic All-ACC roster.
The ITA National Summer Championships, hosted by Indiana University, run through Aug. 16 with the championship match set to take place on Tuesday at a time to be determined. Complete brackets and results can be found at www.IUHoosiers.com, and will be updated at the end of each day.
