
Sixth-Ranked Blue Devils Win Third Straight ACC Match 7-0 Over Maryland

College Park, Md. - No. 6 Duke won all six singles matches in straight sets on Sunday to earn a 7-0 victory over Maryland for their third straight win. The Blue Devils improve to 15-5 overall and 7-1 in the ACC while the Terps drop to 9-8 on the year and 1-7 in conference play.

Duke won handily in all six singles matches with straight-set victories at each position. No. 4 Ludovic Walter defeated Maryland's only ranked player, No. 106 Nickolai Nielsen, in the No. 1 match 6-4, 6-4. Walter improved to 7-1 in ACC matches, 15-4 in dual contests and 25-8 overall. He now holds a record of 121-39 in his career. No. 37 Jonathan Stokke also picked up his 25th victory of the season with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Andreas Vaage-Nilsen at No. 2. Stokke is now 25-15 on the year, 10-8 in dual matches and 5-2 in conference play.
The other two ranked singles players for the Blue Devils also won on Sunday. No. 70 Peter Rodrigues defeated Boris Fetbroyt 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 slot. Rodrigues continued his impressive season with only one loss since the dual season started. He is 18-1 in dual matches, 7-1 in the ACC and 24-7 overall. In the No. 5 match, No. 111 Kiril Dimitrov won 6-1, 6-2 over John O'Rourke. Dimitrov is 5-2 in conference matches and 13-7 overall.
Christopher Brown became the fifth Duke player to reach double digit wins this season. He improved to 10-11 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Aaron Carr at the No. 6 spot. At No. 4 Joey Atas defeated Scott Fink 6-3, 6-0. Atas is 5-2 in the ACC and 10-6 in dual matches.
Duke took two of the three doubles matches for the first point in the match. No. 50 Atas and Stokke picked up an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 position against Josh Brauser and Fetbroyt. The Duke pairing are now 6-2 in ACC contests and 22-8 overall for the year. Ned Samuelson and Walter won at No. 3 against Carr and Fink, 8-1, to improve to 6-2 in the conference and 10-5 in dual matches. The only loss on the day for the Blue Devils came in the No. 2 doubles match. No. 57 Stephen Amritraj and Rodrigues suffered their first conference loss of the year, falling to 7-1 with an 8-5 loss to Nielsen and Vaage-Nilsen.
The Blue Devils head into the final week of the regular season. They will play three ACC matches, taking on North Carolina at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Virginia Tech at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and Virginia at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
