DURHAM, N.C. ? Senior Rachel-Rose Cohen and sophomore Kelly Hathorn of the Duke University Women's Soccer team were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III squad on Thursday, which was selected in a vote by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA).
Cohen was named to the first team and will now move on to the national ballot to be selected for Academic All-America, while Hathorn earned third team accolades.
A product of San Diego, Calif., Cohen received the honor for the second straight year and has led the Blue Devils on the defensive end all season starting 19 contests. She owns a 3.81 grade point average and is majoring in biological anthropology and anatomy.
Hathorn, who is from Durham, N.C., earned third team accolades as she owns a 3.43 grade point average. A sophomore defender, Hathorn has seen action in 17 matches, while posting 14 starts.
Duke now awaits the NCAA Tournament selection show to find out of the Blue Devils will receive an at-large invitation to the postseason, which takes place on Monday at 5:00 p.m.
