PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. - The 25th-ranked Duke duo of senior Daniela Bercek and freshman Elizabeth Plotkin fell in the semifinal match of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Saturday.
After upsetting No. 1-ranked Jenna Long and Sara Anundsen of North Carolina, 9-8 (11), on Friday to advance to the semifinals, Bercek and Plotkin fell to fourth-ranked Roxanne Clarke and Kady Pooler of Arizona State, 9-8 (2) on Saturday, ending their run in the main draw.
Bercek and Plotkin entered the All-American Championships in the qualifying round on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and had since beaten five nationally ranked teams before today's loss. The two have won five of their last six matches - all versus ranked opponents - and are now 5-2 this fall.
