
Rodrigues Continues Run In Consolation Bracket At All-American Championships

TULSA, OKLA. - Duke senior Peter Rodrigues posted another win in the consolation bracket on Friday at the 2006 Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. as he is the only Blue Devil remaining in competition.
Rodrigues, the 44th-ranked player in the nation, defeated 32nd-ranked Andreas Siljestrom of Middle Tennessee State, 6-4, 7-5, on Friday and will meet Stephen Bass of Notre Dame on Saturday in the quarterfinal consolation match.
Rodrigues fell to seventh-ranked Arnau Brugues of Tulsa in straight sets in main-draw action (6-2, 6-3) before entering consolation play. He defeated Brian Hung of Michigan, 6-2, 6-0, in the second round of the back draw on Thursday after receiving a first-round bye.
The 16th-ranked team of Rodrigues and classmate Joey Atas was also in consolation action on Friday, and were defeated by Robbert Lathouwers and Alex Schweizer of Auburn, 8-4. Rodrigues and Atas were knocked out of the main draw bracket by the No. 1-ranked duo of Kevin Anderson and Ryan Rowe of Illinois on Thursday (8-3). Anderson and Rowe are the defending NCAA doubles champions.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
