DURHAM, N.C. ? The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) office released the 2006 All-ACC squads on Tuesday with four Blue Devils earning accolades. Senior's Rebecca Moros and Darby Kroyer were named to the All-ACC first and second teams, respectively, while KayAnne Gummersall and Elisabeth Redmond each were selected to the All-Freshman team by a vote of the league head coaches.
Moros, a product of Larchmont, N.Y., earned All-ACC honors for the third straight season and her first team selection marks the second consecutive year she has earned the accolade. On the season, Moros has started all 18 contests while posting four goals and three assists for 11 points. She collected the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Alabama-Birmingham, while notching a key goal in leading the Blue Devils to a 3-1 victory over third-ranked Florida State.
A native of San Ramon, Calif., Kroyer received All-ACC second team honors for the second straight year after starting all 18 contests, scoring four goals, posting two assists and 10 points. As of late, Kroyer netted the game-winning goal against third-ranked Florida State and had another goal at Miami. Kroyer, a two-time captain for the Blue Devils, has taken a team-high 48 shots on the season.
Two of the top scorers on the Blue Devil squad in 2006-- Gummersall and Redmond-- were each named to the 12-member All-Freshman squad.
Gummersall, who is from Wilmette, Ill., leads the Duke squad with seven goals on the season and is three away from tying the Blue Devil freshman record for goals in a season (10). A 5-8 forward, Gummersall has also tallied two assists in 18 contests. Gummersall has posted goals against four ACC teams -- Boston College, Virginia Tech, N.C. State and Miami-- including game-winning tallies against Miami and Boston College. She currently ranks tied for sixth in the ACC in points per match (1.0) and goals per match (0.40) for ACC games only.
Redmond, who is out of Morristown, N.J., leads the Blue Devils with seven assists, while also notching three goals. All three of her goals this season have been game-winning tallies. She has started 16 of 18 contests, while notching two goals and four assists against ACC foes. In ACC games only, she ranks tied for sixth in shots (2.90) and tied for fourth in assists (0.40) per game.
