
Blue Devils End ITA Regional Action

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Four Duke singles players and one doubles team were in action at the ITA Mideast Regionals on Saturday, as two singles players and a Duke duo fell in competitive quarterfinal matches.
Senior Joey Atas posted a three-set win over teammate sophomore Kiril Dimitrov (4-6, 6-2, 6-3), before falling to Henrique Cancado of Old Dominion, 6-1, 7-5, in quarterfinal action. Classmate Peter Rodrigues faired the same, as he first recorded a win over William Noblitt (7-6 (8), 6-2) then fell to 18th-ranked Harel Srugo of Old Dominion in a hard-fought three-set match (6-3, 3-6, 6-1).
Doubles action saw Atas combine with junior David Goulet, as the two were defeated by Daniel Dossetor and James Eason of Citadel, 8-5, in quarterfinal play.
Also in singles action was freshman Dylan Arnould, ranked 111th in the country, as was defeated by 15th-ranked Arnaud Lecloerec of Old Dominion, 7-6 (4), 6-4, in the round of 16.
Next up for the Blue Devil men's tennis team will be the ITA National Indoors, held Nov. 2-5 in Columbus, Ohio.
