DURHAM, N.C. ? The 23rd-ranked Duke Women's Soccer team will close out their home slate on Sunday as the Blue Devils will host third-ranked Florida State at 12:30 p.m. in Koskinen Stadium. It will mark senior day for nine Duke student-athletes-- Darby Kroyer, Rachel-Rose Cohen, Lauren Tippets, Sarah McCabe, Jenny Alleva, Rebecca Moros, Erin Hathorn, Katie Roark and Rebekah Fergusson.
The group of nine seniors have led the Blue Devils to a 50-27-4 overall and 18-14-1 league mark, while advancing to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament and at least the second round of the NCAA Tournament each of their three years.
Duke enters the contest with a 7-6-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), while Florida State is 12-1-2, 5-1-2. The Blue Devils are ranked 23rd nationally by SoccerTimes.com. The Seminoles are third in the Soccer America, fourth in the SoccerTimes.com and Soccer Buzz and fifth in the NSCAA poll.
In the overall series, Duke leads 6-3-2 but the Seminoles own a 3-1-1 record against the Blue Devils since 2001. Duke has fared well at home posting a 3-0-2 record against Florida State.
Duke is coming off a 3-2 loss to Clemson on Thursday as the Blue Devils allowed three second half goals to the Tigers. In the contest, freshman Elisabeth Redmond notched two assists, senior Sarah McCabe totaled her fifth goal of the season and senior Lauren Tippets added her second tally of the year. McCabe, who is from Sarasota, Fla., moved into a tie for sixth place on Duke's all-time goal scored list with 24 with the tally. She also moved into tied for 10th on the Blue Devil all-time points chart with 55 over her four years.
The Blue Devils have lost two out of the last three contests and have been outscored 6-2 during that stretch.
The Oct. 11 match against Wake Forest that was postponed due to inclement weather has now been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6:00 p.m. The contest will be played in Winston-Salem, N.C. On Oct. 11, the two squads played for 52 minutes and 49 seconds before an hour and 10 minute lightning delay forced the game to be postponed with the Blue Devils leading, 1-0, over the eighth-ranked Demon Deacons.
