WILLIAMSBURG, VA.? On the second day of the 13th Annual William & Mary Women's Tennis Invitational, Duke's doubles tandem of Melissa Mang and Jessi Robinson downed Richmond's duo of Carter and Grasu, 8-6, to advance to the consolation finals of the Flight A Doubles bracket in Williamsburg, Va.
The Blue Devil doubles team will next take on Arkansas's Miseviciute and Kaluder on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
After winning two matches to start the season, Mang lost, 5-7, 6-1, 2-6 to Inga Beerman of Virginia Tech in the semifinals of the Flight B singles bracket on Saturday. The freshman will take on Julia Koulbitskaya of Penn on Sunday in the consolation bracket at 2:00 p.m.
Robinson advanced on Saturday in the consolation Flight B bracket with a default from Beatrice Grasu of Richmond and will face Boston College's Dasha Cherkasov on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Junior Kristin Cargill fell in the semifinals of the Flight A consolation bracket on day two with a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 2-6 loss to 46th-ranked Megan Muth.
