DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke women's tennis team begins play this weekend at the 13th annual William & Mary Invitational in
Four Blue Devils will travel to the tournament, which features student-athletes from 15 schools around the country. Freshmen Melissa Mang and Jessi Robinson and juniors Tory Zawacki and Kristin Cargill will pair off to begin doubles action for the Blue Devils at 8 a.m. Friday at William & Mary's Busch Tennis Courts.

On another court at the same time, Cargill and Zawacki will team up as the top seed in Flight B competition against
Zawacki, who compiled a 21-13 singles record during the 2004-05 season, kicks off the singles action for the Blue Devils when she faces
Following Zawacki's initial performance, Cargill will take on Jenna Long of
Robinson and Mang will see their first collegiate singles action as the No. 2 and 4 seeds, respectively, in Flight B. Mang will take on Jessica Siebel of
Each Blue Devil will have to win three matches to advance to the championship game, held Sunday at noon for Flight A and 2 p.m. for Flight B. The doubles championships take place at 9 a.m. Sunday for Flight A and 10:15 a.m. for Flight B.
The Blue Devils began practice Wed., Sept. 7, in preparation for the 2005 fall tennis season. Fall play consists of seven individual tournaments, beginning with the William & Mary Invitational and culminating with the ITA Nationals Nov. 3-6.
The team returns five starters and seven letterwinners from last year's group, which compiled a 16-11 record and finished the season in the NCAA Elite Eight with a final ranking of 17.
Robinson and Mang are just two of four stellar newcomers to join the Blue Devils this season, as freshman Tara Iyer and junior transfer Daniela Bercek will also compete for Duke this year. Already, Bercek is the fifth-ranked singles player in the NCAA according to the ITA's preseason poll, and she and Robinson are listed at No. 11 in doubles.
