Duke, who enters the match with an 11-4-1 overall, 5-4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) record, is in need of a league victory to seal a finish of no lower than fifth place. Miami enters Friday with an 8-9-1 overall and 2-6-0 ACC record.
Duke is coming off losing its second straight ACC match as the Blue Devils lost road contests to Clemson (1-0) and ninth-ranked Florida State (2-1, 2OT). Duke's four losses in league action this season have all been by one goal. In the match versus the Seminoles, the Blue Devils allowed two goals for the first time this season.
The seven seniors were head coach Robbie Church's first recruiting class at Duke and have led the Blue Devils to a 49-28-4 record over the last four years. In the first year, Duke struggled with a 9-9-2 overall and 2-3-2 league record but has come back to win four or more ACC games in each of the last three years.
Despite losing two straight matches, the Blue Devils remained 10th in the latest Soccer America poll, while being ranked 11th by SoccerTimes.com, 12th by Soccer Buzz and 13th by the NSCAA.
Duke and Miami have met only one time in school history, which was last season in Coral Gables, Fla. The Blue Devils cruised to a 4-1 victory as Bognanno, Hollenbeck, Sarah McCabe and Rebecca Moros each registered goals in the victory.
