GREENSBORO, N.C.-Duke University senior Amanda Johnson was named ACC Co-Performer of the Week on Monday after registering six victories in singles and doubles during the past week.
Johnson collected a pair of 3-1 singles and doubles records last week including three wins at the number one singles position over ranked opponents. The Bettendorf, Iowa native began the week by downing 18th-ranked Petra Dizdar of Texas 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. Against second-ranked Florida, Johnson upset top-ranked Alexis Gordon in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, marking the highest ranked player she has ever defeated in her career.
Then on Saturday, the three-time All-America knocked off 57th-ranked Lyndsay Shosho 6-1, 6-0 as the Blue Devils beat the Yellow Jackets 6-1.
Johnson owns a four-year singles record of 111-32 and her 111 wins are tied for 11th on Duke's all-time list. It marks the second time this season she has been named ACC Co-Performer of the Week. Johnson shared the week's honors with Clemson's Alix Lacelarie.
Duke (17-3, 7-1 ACC) will next play in the ACC Championship from April 16-18 at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C. The Blue Devils are seeded second and will take on seventh-seeded Virginia on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
