GAINESVILLE, FLA. - - After the first round of the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational, the top-ranked Duke women's golf team leads by seven strokes at the Par 70, 5,773-yard University of Florida Golf Club from Mar. 7-9.
Duke owns an 18-hole total of 292 with Michigan State (299), Ohio State (299), Tennessee (301) and Vanderbilt (306) rounding out the top five. The Blue Devils posted four players in the top eighth of the individual action.
Freshman Brittany Lang led the way for Duke carding an even-par round of 72 on Sunday and sits tied for second in the individual competition. Duke's other freshman, Anna Grzebien, and sophomore Liz Janangelo each posted a 73 and are tied for fourth.
Blue Devil seniors Virada Nirapathpongporn is tied for eighth with a 74 and Leigh Anne Hardin is tied for 25th with a 77. Michigan State's Allison Fouch leads the individual play with a one-under-par 69.
There will be 36 more holes on Monday and Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
