Duke's Luol Deng was honored as the ACC Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and the fifth time in the last seven weeks on Monday after guiding the Blue Devils to a pair of victories against Valparaiso and Florida State. Deng leads all ACC freshmen in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (6.9 rpg) and field goal percentage (.464) and is second among conference freshmen in free throw percentage (.726) and blocked shots (1.07 bpg).
Deng posted 18 points in Duke's 97-63 victory over Valparaiso on Thursday. The freshman guard/forward pulled down a team-high eight rebounds against the Crusaders, while also collecting two assists and a blocked shot.
Against Florida State on Sunday, Deng led all Duke players with 20 points in the Blue Devils' 70-65 win in Tallahassee. He shot 46 percent from the floor and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. He collected a game-high nine rebounds and two blocked shots in 37 minutes of action.
For the week, Deng averaged 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocked shots while shooting 44 percent from the floor and 100 percent from the charity stripe.
Duke wraps up the last week of the regular season with a pair of conference home games against Georgia Tech on Wednesday and North Carolina on Saturday.
