DURHAM, N.C. - Junior center Shelden Williams scored 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots to lead 11th-ranked Duke to a 95-58 win over N.C. Central in exhibition men's basketball action on Thursday evening at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.
The Blue Devils, who scored the first eight points of the contest, jumped out to a 14-2 lead behind five points from both J.J. Redick and Williams. Two free throws by Daniel Ewing at the 1:54 mark gave Duke its biggest first half advantage at 43-19, and the Blue Devils led 45-22 at the break.
A conventional three-point play by Reggie Love pushed Duke's lead to 44 points, the largest of the night, at 93-49 with 2:05 left in the game.
Redick finished the night with 17 points while Daniel Ewing chipped in 16 points, six assists and three steals. For N.C. Central, Mintrel Abney and Jonathan Moore led the way with 13 points each.
Duke opens the regular season Saturday, November 20 at home versus Tennessee-Martin at 7:00 p.m. while the Eagles host St. Paul's on Tuesday.
