DURHAM, N.C.-- In a match-up of the top two scoring teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) the 15th-ranked Duke women's soccer team will travel down Tobacco Road to play at top-ranked North Carolina on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The contest will be played at Fetzer Field and will count towards the 2004-05 Carlyle Cup.
The winner of the match on Thursday will receive one point towards the Carlyle Cup, a year-long competition between North Carolina and Duke. Heading into the match, North Carolina leads the competition with a 1.5-1 lead.
Duke, which owns a 12-5-0 overall, 5-3-0 ACC record, continues to have a stellar season under fourth-year Head Coach Robbie Church. Senior Casey McCluskey continues to rank near the top in the nation with 15 goals scored and as a team the Blue Devils own 10 shutouts on the season.
North Carolina owns a 15-0-1 overall and 8-0-0 ACC record. The Tar Heels feature the second-best defensive team in the ACC, allowing only 0.55 goals per game.
Thursday's match will feature the top two offenses in the ACC as the Blue Devils lead the league in scoring and are ranked fifth nationally with a 3.18 goals per game average.
Tickets can be purchased for $5 for adults and $3 for students six and older and senior citizens ages 55 and up.
