LOS ANGELES, CALIF.--Saturday was a very productive day for the Duke women's tennis team as each of the five singles players and all three doubles teams picked up victories in the prequalifying stage of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Riviera All-American on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, Calif.
Picking up singles victories on day one was 96th-ranked Saras Arasu, 100th-ranked Tory Zawacki, 116th-ranked Katie Blaszak, Lauren Archer, Kristin Cargill and Clelia Deltour. Arasu netted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Noelle Lee of Cal Poly; Archer knocked off Rachel Porsz of Long Beach State, 6-3, 6-3; Blaszak defeated Mimi Rinaudin of Mississippi, 6-1, 6-4; Zawacki knocked off Elizabeth Lumpkin of UCLA, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; Cargill beat Eva Dickes of Pepperdine; and Deltour picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Chelsea Nusslock of Wisconsin.
In doubles action, the team of Jennifer Zika and Deltour won 8-3 over Kolbovic/Svanfeldt of Washington, while Archer and Arasu defeated Baker/Fermin of LMU, 8-5.
The second round will take place on Sunday.
