Two juniors'--Jessica Foley and Lindsey Harding--will each be writing diary entries during the 2004-05 women's basketball campaign. Foley, a native of Wodonga, Victoria, Australia, is the first of the duo to write a diary entry. Check back each week for a new entry from one of the Blue Devils.
Hello All!!
In the words of Coach G, "It's a great year to be a Blue Devil."
I am quite honored to be taking over the diary writing this year, after hearing everyone respond so warmly to Vicki, Caitlin and Michele Matyasovsky's diaries of years past. It is also with some relief that I take over the command, as now I don't have to hear about all the funny/foreign things that the Aussie girl on the team has said or done (that would be me in case you are wondering).

Now let's do a quick recap of the year thus far. We all returned to school in August with the excitement of something brand new. We had players returning from injury, players stepping up into senior roles, and of course the four new inclusions to the team. At first we were all pretty quiet, friendly, and generally eager to get through pre-season workouts without any fuss. The freshmen barely said boo for the first few weeks, and I wondered if they were ever going to do so.....but of course they eventually came out of their shells and showed us their various talents.
Nish (Wanisha Smith) began busting out some dance moves in the locker room, for which I had to take some notes as I am completely lacking in the rhythm and co-ordination department. Then Laura Kurz started sporting some very unique morning hair dos, and found a favorite pair of shoes that she hasn't taken off for some weeks now. Emily Waner has been trying to disguise her sport star status on campus by dressing like a model for class and gaining many admirers in the process, while the rest of us are pushing it in the morning to wear a pair of jeans.
And finally, after picking up Chante Black for morning practice two times a week throughout all of September she finally decided to speak up and tell me that my music in the car was a "little different" and that perhaps I should play the radio instead. Ok, so I guess I didn't get through that much of my recap. Next time then. Right now I am going to have a kip, before waking up and putting some shrimp on the Barbie?
Catch you all again soon,
Jessica Mary-Ellen Foley
