Duke's Michael Yani has been named this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after leading the eighth-ranked Blue Devils to three conference wins over N.C. State, 30th-ranked Virginia and 37th-ranked Florida State.
The three wins extended Duke's streak of consecutive ACC regular season victories to 55 matches dating back to the 1996 season.
In singles, Yani went 3-0 at the number two slot, winning all three matches in straight sets: 6-1, 6-0 over the N.C. State's Val Banada, 6-4, 6-2 over Virginia's Rylan Rizza and 6-3, 6-2 over 104th-ranked Romain Jurd of Florida State.
In doubles action, Yani paired with Phillip King to defeat two ranked tandems in Virginia's 40th-ranked pair of Michael Duquette and Doug Stewart and Florida State's 44th-ranked team of Alex Herrera and Romain Judd. The eighth-ranked duo also defeated N.C. State's pair of Val Banada and R.J. Murray, 8-2.
In his four years at Duke, Yani has helped the Blue Devils to a record of 81-27, three NCAA Tournament berths, four ACC regular season titles and two league tournament crowns. Along with fellow senior Yorke Allen, Yani celebrated Senior Day at Duke with Sunday's 4-3 victory over Florida State.
