The fourth-ranked Duke women's tennis team improved to 19-2 overall and 4-0 in ACC play with a 7-0 victory over visiting Maryland on Saturday afternoon at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on the Duke campus.
The victory over the Terps marks Duke's 24th in a row in the series. With the loss, the Terrapins fall to 8-8 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Duke claimed a 1-0 lead in the match by capturing the doubles point. The Blue Devils then went ahead 2-0 as Amanda Johnson defeated Emily Marker in straight sets at the number two singles slot. After Kelly McCain downed Ramona But, 6-1, 6-1, at the number one position, Katie Granson clinched the win for Duke with a straight set victory over Jennifer Dent at number four.
Saras Arasu and Hillary Adams then posted wins while Prim Siripipat earned a victory via default.
The Blue Devils remain at home for Senior Day on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against Virginia while the Terrapins take on North Carolina in Chapel Hill tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
