Duke Hosts Virginia Monday...
The second-ranked Duke women's basketball team will look for its 34th consecutive ACC victory on Monday with a 7:00 PM contest against Virginia in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke enters the game with a 21-1 overall, 9-0 ACC mark, while Virginia is 10-11, 4-6.
It will be televised by the regional sports network with Beth Mowins (play-by-play) and Debbie Antonelli (color) calling the action. The game will be aired on Fox Sports South, Sunshine Network and Comcast.
The contest will also be aired on the Duke Radio Network with Steve Barnes calling the play-by-play and Missy Anderson doing the color. The duo will go live on WDNC-AM 620 beginning at 6:30 PM.
Noting The Blue Devils...
Duke has scored 100 or more points five times this season which ties a school record (1994-95)--all five times were at home ... Alana Beard has registered a 226-15 record in four years of high school and three years so far at Duke ... Duke has won 14 consecutive true road contests ... Duke leads the ACC in 11 different team categories.
A Look at Virginia...
Virginia has won five out of the last seven contests and the past two in a row by an average of 17.5 points over Clemson and Wake Forest. The Cavaliers are led by Cherrise Graham (14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds) and Brandi Teamer (14.2 points, 7.5 rebounds) on the season. Head Coach Debbie Ryan is in her 26th year at Clemson and owns a 571-221 record.
The Series With Virginia...
Virginia leads the overall series 32-18, but Duke has won 11 of the last 12 meetings and six in a row. Duke has won the past five in a row in Durham. Overall, Coach G has a 12-10 record against Virginia. In games played in Cameron Indoor Stadium, Coach G owns a 5-5 mark. The last Cavalier victory over the Blue Devils was Jan. 30, 2000 (61-49).
The First Contest Against Virginia...
Alana Beard hit two free throws with 0.08 seconds remaining to give top-ranked Duke a 60-59 victory over Virginia on Jan. 9 in Charlottesville, Va. Beard finished with a school record 41 points and 10 rebounds on the night.
Beard hit 16 of 30 from the field on the night, while the rest of the Blue Devils struggled hitting only 3-of-29. The 16 field goals made by Beard tied a school record, while the 30 field goals attempted was a school record. The only other Blue Devils to hit field goals in the game were Mistie Bass (1-of-5) and Michele Matyasovsky (2-of-7).
The second half was led by Beard as she scored 27 of her teams 37 points including 16 of the final 18 points for the Blue Devils. Duke trailed 28-23 at the half.
For the game, Duke had a season-low 60 points, 32.2 field goal percentage, 9.1 three-point field goal percentage, seven assists and three steals.

Duke continues to be ranked third in the latest WBCA/Summerville RPI rankings as of Feb. 5. Tennessee is ranked first with Connecticut second. The Blue Devils' strength of schedule is now at 16.
Consecutive Conference Win Streaks...
Duke's 33 game winning streak against ACC opponents is the second-longest current streak in NCAA Division I behind Connecticut's 41-game streak (through games of Feb. 6). The longest streak in NCAA Division I history is 183 by Texas from 1978-1990 in the SWC.
Bass Suffers Injury...
Freshman Mistie Bass suffered a broken nose on Wednesday in practice. She played 10 minutes in Duke's victory at Clemson on Thursday and will wear a protective mask in practice and at games over the next couple of weeks.
Beard On Duke Scoring List...
Alana Beard become the fourth player in Duke history to notch over 1,700 points in a career at Duke on Thursday at Clemson with her 21 points. Beard now owns 1,719 points in only 87 games at Duke. She needs only 43 points to move in to sole possession of third place on Duke's all-time scoring list. She will pass Katie Meier (1,761).
