GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke University senior Thora Helgadottir and junior Casey McCluskey headlined the 2003 All-Atlantic Coast Conference team released on Tuesday evening. Also receiving accolades on the evening was sophomore defender Kate Seibert, who was named second team All-ACC and Darby Kroyer, who earned All-ACC Freshman Team accolades.
Helgadottir has started 13 games in goal for the Blue Devils and has registered a 1.09 goals against average and three shutouts against ACC opponents. In her career, Helgadottir ranks second on the Duke charts with 15 shutouts.
McCluskey has taken on a different role this season in the midfield for the Blue Devils, which has cut down on her scoring, but the junior has been an anchor for Duke in 2003. McCluskey owns three goals and five assists on the season.
Seibert, a defender from Downingtown, Pa., earned the honor after collecting six goals and two assists on the year. Her six goals ranks tied second on the Duke squad. Both Helgadottir and McCluskey were each named first team All-ACC for the third straight year.
A San Ramon, Calif., native, Kroyer has been steady for the Blue Devils in her first year scoring four goals and assisting on two others. She has started 17 of 18 contests for Duke in the midfield.
Duke will battle Virginia on Wednesday in the first round of the ACC Championship at the SAS Stadium Complex in Cary, N.C. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
