Duke Tennis Players Fall In U.S. Open Doubles Play

A pair of Duke freshman tennis players -- Stephen Amritraj and Jonathan Stokke -- suffered defeats as part of separate doubles tandems on Tuesday at the 2002 U.S. Open in Flushing, N.Y.

Amritraj, playing with Prakash Amritraj, fell by scores of 6-3, 6-3 to Frantisek Cermak and Ota Fukarek of the Czech Republic. Stokke and his partner, Rajeev Ram, dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to the tandem of Devin Bowen and Brandon Coupe of the United States.
