Blue Devils Lead By 27 Strokes At Women's Golf ACC Championship

CLEMMONS, N.C. -- For the second consecutive day, the second-ranked Duke women's golf team fired a four-under-par round of 284 and increased its lead to 27 strokes at the ACC Championship played at the Salem Glenn Country Club in Clemmons, N.C. Two Blue Devils, Virada Nirapathpongporn and Kristina Engstrom, continue to lead the individual competition as both golfers registered a 71 on Saturday.
Duke now boasts a two-day total of 568 with Wake Forest (595), N.C. State (599), Florida State (605), North Carolina (615) and Maryland (622) rounding out the field.
Nirapathpongporn, the 2001 ACC individual champion, owns a two-day total of 141 along with Engstrom (Djursholm, Sweden). Engstrom recorded five birdies on the day to lead the Blue Devils and now has a tournament best 10 in two rounds. Blue Devil senior Candy Hannemann is right behind her teammates in sole possession of third place with a 143 after posting a 72 on day two.
Duke's lone freshman Niloufar Aazam-Zanganeh (Lausanne, Switzerland) carded a second round best 70 on Saturday to move into tied for fifth place along with Leigh Anne Hardin (Martinsville, Ind.) with a 147. Hardin finished the day with a 74.
The Blue Devils are looking to claim their seventh consecutive ACC Championship. Duke will begin teeing off at 9:20 AM until 10:00 AM along with N.C. State and Wake Forest.
